Hey everyone. So as some of you know, I've been writing a lore on the server. It's been going pretty cool and I'm getting more into it. I was thinking about installing a custom dungeons plugin where I can build a dungeon and set it so players can play through it together. It resets after you're done.
For example, take chapter 2 from the lore. The fall of Pine. Many new players probably won't know what it is. You veteran players remember that massacre? I'm thinking I could build dungeons based on the past events of the server and tie it into the lore. This would be amazing for the community and really help the lore. Also something to do with other people when you're bored. I want to give the server a story rather than being a plain server.
However, this does ruin the PURE vanilla feel a bit. Emphasis on "a bit" The real only thing that the plugin implements is mob resets and teleports (Teleports are vanilla anyway)
Let me know your thoughts on this, guys. Have fun playing!

Hi, I'm new around and I haven't even applied yet, I've been reading through some stuff here in the forums and I think this idea is great. Yes, you're right, the pure vanilla feel seems like it disappears. It would be cool doing it vanilla style although it would be some what difficult to manage, I guess. I'm not sure about that but everything else sounds great. I know it doesn't mean much as a new person who hasn't even applied yet (or maybe it does, I'm just reading to everything I possibly can) but that's just my opinion, I'll leave it to the veterans to ponder on this

I only referred to veterans because they knew the story behind the event that happened. Yeah, it would be incredibly hard to manage from pure vanilla. The only thing that the plugin would offer would be ease. There'd be no real visual change like "Oh, I just got the megabow of 5000 chicken murders" or something along those lines. It's just to help the story Another problem I've thought about having it is if someone new is exploring and they come across this massive bedrock area. There must be a way around it Thanks for your input!

First, you're more than welcome, no need to thank me Thank you for letting me know my input does matter. Yes, I am indeed thinking of joining, I was going to take care of the application right now, as a matter of fact. Regarding the idea, I wouldn't mind helping with that because it seems cool and speaking as someone, again, who's new here, I agree that it would be a great way of integrating new people into the lore of the server, really. The bedrock area.. Well, assuming no one will go all the way to coordinates such of the 32.000.000's, it's fine XD It could be either underground or in the sky which helps as well

Yeah, that seems like the most plausible solution but it may create a bit of lag for the server? I'm not sure. Actually, if it's a specific chunk that's being reloaded then it may not! Putting it in the sky will be a massive eyesore Underground - I imagine people strip mining and hitting a bedrock wall is not that fun I think if this does happen, I'll make it at some extreme co-ordinates.

It depends on how you are willing to do it. If you would, for example, teleport to said extreme coordinates instead of walking all the way there (MADNESS!), then only the chunk you teleport to and a couple of them around the area will be loaded. Not much terrain will be generated and since it's far from the "main activity", so to speak, it won't cause too much damage because it'll be unloaded. Yes, putting it in the sky would be an eyesore unless you'd build from the 256 block limit layer down and not need too much height... It would be too far away to render, I'm assuming. Not quite sure. Underground: would pain if someone's mining and struck a massive bedrock wall, true. But if this is going to be built millions of blocks away.. I wouldn't worry much about it Anywho, cya later.

That's precisely what I meant Thanks for the feedback

This has my vote, I may possibly end up trying it out, if it were to be implemented into the server. It's understandable how this can fog the image of a "pure vanilla" server, but the upside for those who want to still play in a vanilla like fashion can always stay away from that region of the world, not reaping the rewards that it may give, seeing how people may feel that it's giving a slight advantage at gaining mob drops than the, traditional, pure vanilla way of things. I think this will be a positive plugin that will strengthen the health and involvement of the, Realm of Silence, community.

To be honest, it's completely for the story and it's entirely optional. Just a fun little event, it really can't do any harm.
